Baby's Breath
Baby's breath is known as Gypsophila or Gyp in the floral industry. The name is derived from "gypos" (gypsum) and "philos" (loving) in reference to the plants' love for soils high in calcium. Baby's breath plants will die if the soil conditions are not right.
Floral Relatives of Baby's breath are: Carnations, Sweet William and Chickweed.

Ah, the Victorian Era. A time when craftsmanship was at its finest. When the hands of men and women actually took part in the creation process. Nowadays, we have very bland things rolling out on computer controlled assembly lines. Woe is me..... the better days have trully gone by!
And that is another reason why hand-made, custom designed floral arrangements are such unique gifts!
I agree. Floristry is an art that does not receive the appreciation and recognition it deserves. The general public is probably not aware of the "process" that ultimately yields the finished arrangement. The flowers do not clean, hydrate, or dance themselves into a symmetrical pattern. It requires skill, a good artistic eye, and precious time to "create" such things of beauty given to us by nature herself.
